Lore:Red Templars

The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995

The Red Templars[1] (or Red Dome Templars)[UOL 1] were a branch of crusaders in the Imperial Legion active during the Third Empire.[1][UOL 2] They had some affiliation with the Cult of Talos,[UOL 3] but they were considered psychotic, and were believed to drink the dragonblood[2] of Talos to gain temporary martial shouting powers.[UOL 1] Due to the rest of the Legion hating them and the Elder Council's desires to see them dispersed, the order was pushed to undesirable and faraway regions, including Morrowind.[UOL 1] They were still an active organization in the late Third Era, by which time they were notorious for not taking orders, despite theoretically being a part of the Legion's chain of command.[1]

Following the signing of the White-Gold Concordat, the worship of Talos was banned in the Empire.[3] It is unknown how this event affected the Red Templars.
