Lore:Imperial City Archives
The Imperial City Archives (also referred to as the Imperial Archives)[1][2][3] is an Imperial institution based in the Imperial City. It served as a repository of valuable Imperial records, such as deeds to holdings and estates within the Empire's bounds,[4][5] court proceedings for a military tribunal,[1] and records of the Imperial noble houses.[2]
One of its branches, the Documents Division, handled matters regarding documents of ownership. Bearers of appropriate ownership documents could amend them to rename the official names of their residence by submitting the proper forms and payments to the appropriate Construction Charter (such as the Anvil Construction Charter or Cyrodiil Construction Charter) and by filing duplicate forms with the Documents Division.[4][5] It is unknown when the institution was founded, but it was active during the Second,[2] Third,[4][5] and Fourth Era.[1][3]
Notes[edit]
- In 2E 541, the "Scroll of Precursor Saints" was supposedly discovered in the vaults below the White-Gold Tower by Chancellor Abnur Tharn.[6] It is unknown, however, if those vaults were related to this institution.
- The Imperial Palace also has a Hall of Records.[7]
