Quick Walkthrough

1. Talk to Akaterina Hadrach about duties, Queen Millona and fight together.
2. Fight your way to Goldstone's Great Hall.
3. Kill Solvus Orrich and (if present) Lantin Chaskav in the Great Hall to force Queen Millona Conomorus' surrender.
4. Talk to Akaterina about her winning bid.
5. Deliver the Promissory Note to Hago Millirius at the Red Treasury.
6. Return to the Great Hall and speak to Queen Akaterina Hadrach about Queen Millona.

Detailed Walkthrough

Having been declared a traitor, Akaterina Hadrach has decided that Queen Millona must go before she has you both killed. Talk to her about duties and Queen Millona to begin. The plan is straightforward - the two of you will fight your way up to Goldstone's Great Hall and force the queen's abdication. Talk to Akaterina about fight together to have her join you in this battle.

Fight your way up to the castle gate. The queen's people have taken the cunning step of locking the front gate. You can break the lock, or else enter the castle's lower halls via the sewers on the western side of the island. The latter approach will allow you to access the Great Hall through areas that aren't swarming with guards, however be aware that when you do enter the Great Hall, Akaterina will appear by the main doors before Queen Millona and her guards, rather than by the door you entered by. If she dies, you're out of luck - the quest will fail.

Regardless of your route, your ultimate aim is the Great Hall itself. Here Solvus Orrich will challenge you on entry, and attack you. He'll be joined in this by guards (and Lantin Chaskav if he survived Last Salute to the Admiral). You need to Solvus (and Lantin if present) so that Queen Millona Conomorus surrenders - acknowledging your superiority in arms. Millona will step down on the condition that her brother, Reymanus Pelelius, remains Marshal.

Akaterina - assuming that she has survived this long - will be pleased, but has one last task for you. Talk to her about the winning bid topic - she needs you to deliver a Promissory Note for 100,000 gold to Hago Millirius at the Red Treasury building. This formality will see her acknowledged by the Empire as rightful sovereign of Anvil. You will find Hago in the Red Treasury's Upper Offices. He's a little surprised at the unorthodox nature of the bid, but acquiesces on the basis that nobody is now likely to challenge you.

Her bid delivered, return to the Great Hall. Akaterina is now attired as a queen, with her father Mykol Hadrach having been released from the dungeon. Speak to Akaterina. She will reward you with the Helm of Bendu Olo, and a cuirass gifted to her by Herrius Thimistrel - the Cuirass of Ambition. In addition, she will pronounce you Marshal of Goldstone, and grant you the right to purchase Goldenrod House - see the quest of the same name.

Notes

• Completing this quest also improves relations between the Kingdom of Anvil and Kingdom of Sutch. In mechanical terms, this means a +2 increase in relations between the two factions, resulting in improved disposition when speaking to NPCs of the other faction.

20		Upon the deaths of her last guards, Queen Millona surrendered to me and Akaterina Hadrach. She said that she would step down from the throne and Kingdom and go into exile, on the condition that her brother be allowed to retain his post as a Marshal. Akaterina agreed to these terms.
30		Akaterina Hadrach gave me a promissory note worth one hundred thousand septims from the estate of Herrius Thimistrel. She told me to deliver it to the Praetor of the Red Treasury in the Marina as her winning bid in the royal auction.
50		Hago Millirius, the Praetor of the Red Treasury, accepted the promissory note I gave him as the winning bid in Anvil's royal auction.
51		Akaterina Hadrach was frustrated that I had killed the Praetor of the Red Treasury.
100	Finishes quest	The newly crowned Queen Akaterina rewarded me for my service with the Helm of Bendu Olo, an enchanted cuirass, and the title of Marshal of Goldstone.
110	Finishes quest	Akaterina Hadrach was furious to hear of Queen Millona's death, as it meant that she could no longer become Queen legitimately. She swore vengeance upon me for my actions and attacked me.
120	Finishes quest	With Akaterina Hadrach dead and Herrius Thimistrel missing, their coup attempt seems unlikely to succeed.
