Introduction[edit]

Hello, I'm Josh. You know, just one of those Elder Scrolls fans. Read on for a bit more info.

My History With Elder Scrolls[edit]

Here's how it started: My dad first bought the game, and when he played it, I thought it looked really cool, since I like open-world games. So that summer (about a year ago), we got the PS3 version for about $9, since we had discounts/coupons and all that good stuff. When I started playing it, I became addicted immediately.

Now it may be helpful for you to know that I had never actually played video games before I was introduced to Skyrim, so that was a big change, and surprise to myself. So when school started, I stopped playing it, you know, because I had school. Even on the weekends I didn't play it.

But then, at about the beginning of this year, something got me interested again, and I started playing it. So every Friday, and weekends, if I was lucky enough to not have too much homework, I played Skyrim for as long as I could. Ever since I started playing again this year, I've wanted the DLCs really bad. But I also didn't want to pay that much money for them.

So just this summer, I bought Skyrim: Legendary Edition, which has all the DLCs on it. I already said that I had the original PS3 version, but I bought the Xbox 360 version for the Legendary Edition. I did this because I did some research, and people say that the Xbox version has a higher frame rate, better graphics, and other performance features like that. I also wanted the Kinect voice commands and shouts, because that makes the already amazing experience of Skyrim even more realistic. So what about my original PS3 saves, I wondered. I had finished the main quest line, almost all of the College of Winterhold and Civil War quest lines, and had a bunch of things that I didn't want to lose.

So I decided to get a little adventurous, and try to convert the saves using the Skyrim Toolkit GUI, to decrypt the save, and Modio, to place the PS3 save data into an Xbox save container file, and to also put in the Device and Profile information for the Xbox. In fact, I just got it working on the day of writing this. Now, I get to have the same items, houses, followers, etc. and all the DLCs, too.

That was my history with the Elder Scrolls. But what about the future?

Future[edit]

Here's just some information on my future with the Elder Scrolls:

In the future, I would definitely like to buy new Elder Scrolls games. The next one that comes out is the Elder Scrolls Online. It just seems so cool, and it's online. I really enjoy online multiplayer, especially for the games that I love to play.

There are several aspects of ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) that I really like:

  • History: ESO will take place 1000 years before Skyrim. I think this is cool because we, as players, will get to see different styles of buildings and just the general setup of things in the world. I saw many screenshots of ESO and I can tell that the building designs and other things like that are from a different time period. This will add a different sense of realism, and will set apart the artwork of ESO from the other Elder Scrolls games.
  • Role Playing: ESO will be like role playing heaven for those who like role playing. The developers at Bethesda Softworks are aiming for a more quest based gameplay style. They would also like for players to have even more freedom, however, than in Skyrim. I really like this aspect of Skyrim that allows the player to chose to do whatever they want, so I'm really excited for this new sort of role playing aspect in ESO.
  • Multiplayer: As I've already mentioned, ESO is obviously multiplayer. I like interacting with other players along with adventuring and exploring with them, so I will definitely like this part of ESO, since the Elder Scrolls games are excellent for exploring and going on adventures.

So, that's about all I have for my future in Elder Scrolls games.

Conclusion[edit]

Well, that's all I can think of to say about myself. I play Skyrim: Legendary Edition, Minecraft, and, occasionally Halo: Reach. I wouldn't consider myself a fulltime gamer, but I just play for fun.

I hope to see you on UESP.
