Userbox Update[edit]

I'm not sure what the problem was, but as-written, this box was creating problems on pages like UESPWiki:Userboxes when you went to add something to the next column. In IE8 (though not Firefox), it also left the right-hand border of the third column missing. Rather than trace through all the code to spot what was likely to be a simple but hard-to-spot issue, I opted to switch this to use the {{Userbox}} template, like I think most of our other Userboxes do.

Sadly, however, this did not fix the problem. I'll continue to hunt for what might be causing it, but at least it'll be a bit easier to find now. If I don't spot anything obvious, I'll take it to my sandboxes. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 05:18, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

This is a problem with many userboxes when you put them inside a table using the {| |} format. I reverted it to the prior version so they colors could be changed if someone wanted to change them. –Elliot talk 05:25, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
What's really odd here is that when I copied it to my User:RobinHood70/Sandbox2|Sandbox, suddenly they all started doing that even though on the Userboxes page, it was only the one.
As for changing colours, I checked every instance and nobody has chosen to do so. Personally, I'd opt for an easier-to-edit version. If we want more control, then we can always add code to pass those parameters through to the Userbox template. At least that way if we suddenly decide to change something for userboxes, we only have to change it in one place. (Or at least we would, if all userboxes were changed to use that template, anyway.) —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 05:34, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
I don't think it is really that big of a problem. I really don't see anyone editing this either. –Elliot talk 05:37, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
Okay, now here's something that boggles the mind...or at least my mind with its limited template experience. Go into my User:RobinHood70/Sandbox2 and have a look at the Patrollers line. Now, go into my User:RobinHood70/Sandbox1 and edit it so that the {{Userbox Category}} and <noinclude> are on the same line or separate lines. Go look at Sandbox2 in-between revisions. Weird!
I used a direct copy of Wikipedia's version of the Userbox template (then subst'd it later on in my testing), so either they haven't solved/noticed the problem over there either, or it's something that's fixable only in the CSS or something of that nature. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 06:23, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
(Addendum) I was able to confirm that the same thing happens at Wikipedia as well, and have asked for help there. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 06:47, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
