What classifies a "major" antagonist[edit]

I'm creating this discussion in order to prevent potential future discourse about who/what is added to the template. My line of thinking is the character(s) who set the plot of their respective game in motion. ie: Mankar Camoran founded the Mythic Dawn, had them assassinate the Septims, and stole the Amulet of Kings. This is why Camoran can be considered the major antagonist of Oblivion, as opposed to Mehrunes Dagon, who does virtually nothing for himself in the game save for one appearance in the final quest of the main questline, which is why I don't think he should be considered a major antagonist (at least in terms of Oblivion's plot). From what little I understand of Shadowkey, these same rules should apply to Pergan Asuul and Umbra' Keth, respectively, and the latter should not be included on this list. --Rezalon (talk) 01:06, 3 July 2024 (UTC)

Would main enemies of the DLC’s count like Umaril or Miraak? Or the chapters of ESO like Kaalgrontiid? I assume (and would agree that) guild quest enemies like Mercer Frey are too minor to be included? BananaKing5 (talk) 01:20, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
In this instance I only included main questline antagonists. I have another template in the works that also includes other questline and DLC/expansion antagonists that's a bit larger than this one. --Rezalon (talk) 01:23, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
This template needs to include dlc antagonists to be coherent. Doesn’t need to be in a separate template Although this feels a little gamey to me for a lore template to begin with. Dcking20 (talk) 17:43, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
There's a Lore template for Heroes (aka player characters). Do you believe the template should be moved to "Lore Major Antagonists" for consistency? --KevinM(talk) 18:28, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
The concept of Heroes as like a metaphysical role in the cosmos actually has a bunch of text based play in various sources. If we can piece together enough info to prove the same for villains/foes then yeah a lore article might actually be appropriate. Dcking20 (talk) 18:35, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
