Another image to use if you please[edit]

Just though I'd share this. Not sure if it should go in the article yet, what with the current lack of written content, and it will probably be released on the official Beth site soon anyway, at which point it can be uploaded. --OblivionDuruza 07:23, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Link doesn't work. rpeh •TCE 07:27, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
The links working for me at the moment. Here's the url http://www.ripten[dot]com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/SolitudeMarsh.png I'm not sure why it wouldn't be working. Anyway, it's not on the Official site yet, but I expect it will be promptly. --OblivionDuruza 09:40, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
"Forbidden. You do not have permission to access this document.". rpeh •TCE 09:48, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
It does work, at least for me... --Arkhon 09:53, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
It doesn't work if you hotlink. PLEASE can people stop trying to steal screenshots from other sites? The URL is this. rpeh •TCE 10:27, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
The image is already on the wiki. It's better to avoid using the pre-release images, as they'd only be temporary, and this page already has a designated place image (even though it's currently a screengrab from the trailer). --Legoless 18:42, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

() Look, I never got that message, even when using the link here, and I assure you it was an innocent mistake in that regard, and apologise for any undue stress. I was not suggesting using that particular image, but that the quality of that image was better than the current image used in the article, which, as Legoless mentioned, is from the trailer. Apologise again, it was just a suggestion to replace the current image with a new one, which is already on the wiki, as it turns out. --OblivionDuruza 15:14, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Disembodied Voice?[edit]

Has anyone else come across this while traveling Soolitude? Ever now and then I will hear "I've got some work if you're interested, traveler" and "You should see me when you get bored, stranger". Looked everywhere and can't seem to find out who it is. The person (male) is completely invisible.— Unsigned comment by 174.107.152.40 (talk) at 03:33 on 22 November 2011

Yes, I have heard that. I found this page from searching because it confused me as well. After some more searching, I found him. His name is Jaree, or Jaree-Ra. I found him standing against a wall, and he pretty much blended in with it so he was hard to see if you weren't searching for him. He gives you a quest to complete. — Unsigned comment by 174.134.181.161 (talk) at 21:32 on 27 November 2011
He is Jaree-Ra and he gives you the quest "Lights Out!", which is described in this wiki [ Skyrim:Lights_Out! ] 94.1.139.153 15:53, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Horse switch-a-roo?[edit]

I just completed The Battle for Fort Dunstad, and once it was done, there were horses there free for the taking. (One horse...I shot the other as it got in my way.) So I took the remaining one back to Solitude to report to the General, and used fast-travel. I showed up in the city without the horse, and figured it had automatically gone to the city stables.

Well, upon exiting the city I realized Solitude doesn't HAVE a stables, so I went on a frantic search for my horse. No sign of it (a dark horse... can't remember if it had white socks or not.) However, down at Katla's farm, both palaminos in the stables there are acting like they belong to me; I can ride them without triggering a steal message. (And I haven't installed the 1.2 patch...I'm on Xbox 360.) Two-for-one horse of another color??

Footnote: The palamino vanished, too.... and showed back up again after 3-4 fast travels. Weird. I am used to horses wandering, but I'm not sure if they're really doing that, or vanishing.

Table[edit]

The table looks great! But maybe we can take out the requirements to make it fit more snug. 74.136.131.84 00:24, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

is there any way to change the information in the table? I was looking for the Falk Firebeard quest "The Man Who Cried Wolf" (he also has "The Wolf Queen Awakened") and the Jaree-Ra quest "Lights Out!" there are existing entries for these quests but the table links to non existent pages. I am assuming the table is generated automatically? so could someone please have a look at this?

Can't fast travel[edit]

Perhaps because I'm the head of the Assassins and thieves, there are some places in Solitude that I can't fast-travel from "Because there are enemies nearby." Has anyone seen this? Any suggestions on how to find out who it is? Right now I suspect it's the guards that Mero sent after me. I didn't kill them, It seemed obvious that my stealth character should just escape. NFR 20:24, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

I was also confused by this glitch when I discovered it. I noticed it when the townsfolk and town guards were running about as if there was an enemy nearby. As it turns out, after you complete the Dark Brotherhood quest To Kill an Empire, the Imperial troops that you kill on the bridge at the end will respawn and come back to life. Oddly, though, they are unresponsive. They will talk to you, but they stay firmly rooted to the ground and will not retaliate if attacked. They basically provide free exp and armor to sell rather conveniently to the nearby blacksmith. They only respawn once. Jak Atackka 08:10, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
It turns out I never killed them at all the first time through the quest. I stealthed away and the three stooges just stood together. If anyone else has this problem and they're on the PC, the ref numbers for the three stooges are 64324, 64325 and 64326. you can fix the problem in the console by typing "prid 64324" followed by either "disable" or "kill", and then repeat it for the other 2 numbers. — Unsigned comment by NFR (talkcontribs) at 18:49 on 20 December 2011

Get outfitted[edit]

Anyone know what this quest is/is supposed to be? I have not had a quest at this location and there is no detail on the quest page. So is this erroneous information, or do I have to do something in particular to get this quest? Alonella 20:40, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

The womean who owns in Bits and Pieces gives you a suit and asks you to show it off in front of the jarl to get her to notice it and hopefully improve business. i'll start the quest page now, thanks for pointing out:)RIM 20:44, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
No she doesn't!
That is Fit for a Jarl which is obtained from Taarie at Radiant Raiment. So either this is an error, or she gives a different quest... but as I said she has never offered to give me a quest at all. Alonella 22:43, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Shops still open?[edit]

Shops normally close at 8 p.m., at which point the owners lock up the store and entering the store is considered trespassing. However, the shops seem to stay open late. Angeline's Aromatics and Bits and Pieces are open and funtioning until midnight. Radiant Raiment is also open, but Taarie is missing the "What's for sale?" dialogue; also, Solitude Blacksmith is open as well, but the blacksmith doesn't actually reside within the shop itself so accessing this shop is pretty useless. Is this intentional? Jak Atackka 08:24, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I believe so; as these shops are also parts of quests - so it is possible to enter and complete the quests, but as the shop is not open, the dialogue for buying and selling stuff disappears. The same thing happens at Elgrim's Elixirs in Riften. Alonella 16:22, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Street Vendor bug[edit]

After completing the Civil War for the Stormcloaks, I can't seem to buy/sell anything with any of the street vendors. This is pretty frustrating. Does anybody else have this problem? Jak Atackka 08:25, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

I'm the Thane?[edit]

Is anyone else not getting the option to proclaim your the Thane in Solitude? It's very annoying. I went through all the trouble becoming Thane here in my quest to obtain the 1000 bounty in each hold trophy, yet I'm not getting the option. If I have a small bounty I get the I'm with the thieves guild option on non violent crimes. Also I get the I don't have time for this, do you option. Even for a bounty of 5 gold I don't get the I'm the Thane option. I still get the option in all other cities I'm Thane in. Any ideas how this might be fixed on PS3? — Unsigned comment by Artemis Enterei (talkcontribs) at 20:03 on 24 December 2011

Yes, I am as well. It clearly isn't an isolated bug then.
Riveon 20:00, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Ok so this glitch only occurs under Imperial rule.

Boethiah's Bidding[edit]

Is it a mistake that "Boethiah's Bidding" is listed by Elisif the Fair's quests? Skysky 23:25, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, it is quite strange that she would potentially participate in her own assassination. However, I doubt this quest can actually be done in-game. It should probably be removed. Wolok gro-Barok 23:31, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Thalmor Headquarters?[edit]

The Thalmor headquarters links to the Blue Palace. Why? Those are not the Thalmor's headquarters. — Unsigned comment by 71.75.225.225 (talk)

In the game data, the Thalmor Headquarters share a location named "Blue Palace" with the Blue Palace. But ingame the Headquarters and the Blue Palace seem to be at other ends of Solitude. The place is quite empty however, maybe it will play a role in some DLC. I changed it back to an article. --Alfwyn 15:16, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
They could be seen as a part of Castle Dour however, I think. --Alfwyn 15:26, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Events in Soltude? Decorations in the street?[edit]

It's the 4th of Heartfire in my game, and there seems to be banners and decorations hung around the city. I'm not sure why, yet. I play on an unmodded, console version of the game. Does this normally happen? Were the decorations there before? It looks almost like a fairground. --Admos 19:28, 18 January 2012 (UTC)

If you speak to one of the bards or ask around in the city, everyone will tell you that it's supposed to be the event of burning King Olaf, but it's put "on hold" because King Torygg was murdered very recently. It is supposed to happen once you finish the Bards College quests. --130.157.33.52 04:49, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

The only city without a Talos shrine[edit]

Should it be bought up that Solitude is the only city that does not have a Talos shrine? — Unsigned comment by 130.157.91.157 (talk) on 11 March 2012

Unless there's something in-game about them refuting Talos' beliefs or something like that, I'd say it's not notable. Robin Hoodtalk 04:41, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
There is a Shrine to Talos in the Temple of the Divines if the Stormcloaks take Solitude. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 12:00, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Potion[edit]

I don't know if anyone else knows this, but, on the stone wall leading to the courtyard outside of Bryling's house there is a "Potion of minor healing" just thought I'd point this out — Unsigned comment by 124.168.230.251 (talk) at 11:57 on 30 April 2012

is this a city?[edit]

It seems for the capital of skyrim its pretty small and not that populated and it doesnt help that there are not that many shops in the city.--MadokaOda 02:05, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Solitude after takeover[edit]

I just won The battle for Solitude with my stormcloak fellas and now the city is..not a city anymore. Everything's locked and quests don't actually work there. Any tips? — Unsigned comment by 88.212.37.142 (talk) at 16:07 on 25 November 2012

A dead dragon in Solitude?[edit]

has annyone else had thiis? I was just outside the bards college and saw a dead dragon. I was able to take it's bones/scales and even absorb it's soul(even though it was already dead when I saw it, I had dne no damage to it at all.) This has to be a glitch, I didn't think dragons could get inside Solitude.(or any of the other four walled cities.) Is his type of thing known to happen time to time? — Unsigned comment by Festuskreux (talkcontribs) at 07:34 on 31 December 2012

Dragons can spawn inside Solitude. My first encounter with one I saw it from outside the city, couldn't figure out how to get to it until going through the gates. Most likely it spawned inside and you didn't notice it, and it was killed by the guards/residents.RandomTarget (talk) 21:21, 8 January 2013 (GMT)
This is something that is supposed to happen from time-to-time. There is a random encounter called Dragon Attack on the random encounters page that documents this. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:37, 30 January 2013 (GMT)

Potion of healing[edit]

There is a potion of healing in Solitude. It is found by exiting Castle Dour Courtyard via the most eastern path and just after you pass under the arch there are some rocks to your left it is nestled amongst those. Not sure if I should add this to the actual page as a note or not, but if someone else could also find and confirm it please. Biffa (talk) 09:47, 24 October 2013 (GMT)

Yes, it is always there. Looking a bit closer at it I could find 5 healing potions in Solitude:
--Alfwyn (talk) 16:26, 5 February 2020 (GMT)
You can get to the potion on the Bards College roof by climbing up onto the steps of Evette San's House and using a single word of Whirlwind Sprint to get to the sloped end of the wall. From there, jump up and onto the roof. Valeria (talk) 07:51, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
