Imperial Soldier[edit]
In my game there is dead Imperial Soldier near the mill and a guard from Rift next to his body. ANy idea what's going on? — Unsigned comment by Arkhon (talk • contribs) at 10:53 on 21 November 2011 (GMT)
- ^(reply) The imperial spawns alive and starts a fight with the guard. Usually the imperial is killed by the guard. But if you intervene (like using healing spells), it is possible to save the imperial, but nothing special happens if you do. 68.149.97.240 23:01, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

- It's worth noting that you also don't get a bounty for helping one kill the other. I helped the Imperial soldier kill the Rift guard with two firebolts to the back without penalty.--24.140.113.127 07:14, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

- I also encountered this, and the Imperial Legion soldier won without intervention. This was after completing the Civil War questline with an Imperial victory. The Rift guard's corpse seems to be permanent, and the Imperial soldier is still there "guarding" the farm. Should this be added to the article? --Legoless 03:04, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

- I turned up to see them fighting, killed the Rift guard and the Imperial turned to me and tried to arrest me for murder. There's no pleasing some people. What's worse was I was a legate after completing the Imperial quests and had finished the game! The Source 20:37, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

- PS I decided to take out a little frustration by killing everyone before reloading and trying another approach. I killed everyone to try to remove the bounty as an experiment and (apart from Avruse who's essential) the last one I killed was a chicken which took off 40 as I killed the last witness! :D What was even funnier was the Imperial guard won the 2nd time round and then walked up to me and asked if I had seen what happened and that he had his eye on me. Weird encounter. The Source 20:37, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
- I encountered this as well. It seems this should be added to the location page. I would, but I'm not confident in my ability to follow formatting guidelines. Plus it hurts my feelings when I get reverted :P Xyzzy 17:54, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

(←) Using a little guesswork from the CS, it seems that after Riften is taken by the Imperials, the guard is supposed to change to an Imperial, but the Stormcloak aligned Riften guard doesn't have any paramaters to dissappear, hence the fight when they see each other. Couriers and Other NPC's[edit]
I almost think this page should be linked to a few others. I never got the courier to advance to the next stage of the White Phial, and as I wandered by this farm, he was standing there, watching the two guards fight. A long time after, I stopped by again, and several more NPC's had stopped to watch the fighting as well, revelers, a random Imperial Courier, there was a group, watching the two fight! This is a good place to stop by once in a while, to see who's joined the party — Unsigned comment by 71.234.174.69 (talk) at 23:56 on 4 July 2012
- Those are all random encounters while the courier is trying to find you, wherever you are. The only common factor is your repeat visits, resulting in many random encounters spawning on the nearby road. The Silencer speaksTalk 23:09, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
Vampire attacks at farm[edit]
So I come by this Sarethi Farm for the first time wandering around cus I notice the glow in the distance at night. I find out the farm has Nirnroots. I wondered why there was a guard posted there though. Well everytime I reload from my previous save and discover the farm for the first time it gets attacked by vampires, whether it's just vampire thralls or a vampire accompanied by death hounds. I was wondering is this attack suppose to happen? Is that why the guard is stationed there? I didn't want to edit the page unless anyone else can verify this happens to them too. I have Dawnguard installed if that helps. And I discovered this place at night. Dunno if that needs to be mentioned, but I wouldn't expect vampires during the day. — Unsigned comment by 71.171.112.74 (talk) at 01:07 on 15 July 2013
- This is a random encounter which occurs if you have the Dawnguard add-on, and can happen in several different locations. I'm pretty sure it only happens between the hours of 7pm and 5am, so if you want to avoid it you can try going there at a different time. The guard is there regardless. — ABCface◥ 02:50, 15 July 2013 (GMT)
- I thought it was probably a random encounter too, but the guard always mentions something about vampire attacks after or before it happens, so I wasn't sure if vampires were suppose to just attack around/within the farm or if it was a random encounter as after loading several times I didn't get anything but vampires attacking in the area, no bandits or wild beasts just random vampire related enemies. Guess it could be a coincidence. — Unsigned comment by 71.171.112.74 (talk) at 07:09 on 15 July 2013
- The guard dialogue is also added by Dawnguard, it's mostly a way for the game to introduce you to the DLC story, explain that vampire attacks have been happening throughout Skyrim, and give you a way to start the questline. It's just a coincidence that you heard the guard dialogue either right before or after the attack, as all guards everywhere will have the dialogue. — ABCface◥ 13:12, 15 July 2013 (GMT)

I see now that the vampire attacks are somewhat random, but the guard mentioning attacks isn't random at all. Whenever I go by a mining settlement or farm, and a guard there (if there is one) mentions vampire attacks upon first getting there, that area is soon attacked by vampires. However, if the guard has normal guard dialogue as the first thing they say, then no random vampires show up. So you were right that vampires aren't suppose to attack Sarethi Farm, but if a guard mentions vampire attacks at a farm or mine or whatever, it is not a coincidence but a prelude to vampires showing up. 71.171.112.74 10:27, 20 July 2013 (GMT)
- Again, it's a coincidence. — ABCface◥ 12:37, 20 July 2013 (GMT)
- Actually it's not, but you probably don't reload and rediscover the same location over and over and over again like I do, so I understand why you think that. 71.171.112.74 03:59, 21 July 2013 (GMT)
- Try visiting other cities or settlements at night where there are guards. They have the same list of dialogue to choose from. Or, try visiting the same locations during the day. The dialogue can still happen then but without the attacks. If you keep reloading to the same game where something has already triggered, then the same thing is going to keep happening... The dialogue is not directly related to the random encounter, as can be seen in game data. — ABCface◥ 04:17, 21 July 2013 (GMT)
- You really think I haven't experimented with this? Because I have. I have been to several other mining towns, farms, and tiny settlements at night. I save a good distance away so that I can get different random encounters. Whenever the first dialogue out of a guard is something along the lines of "There have been vampires attack people in the streets" or "Dragons burning villages, vampires raiding at night, the world has gone mad" or something like that, random vampire enemies show up, be they thralls, master and death hounds, etc. However, times when I reload the first thing the guard says isn't about vampires, and sure enough no vampire attacks. I reload and rediscover the location at least a dozen times, and the same thing always happens. Guard makes mention of vampires, vampires attack. Guard doesn't mention vampires, vampires don't attack. Not ONCE does he/she mention vampire attacks and they don't show up, or he/she doesn't mention it and they do show up. Maybe it's only doing it in my game, idk, but it doesn't appear to be coincidence for me, so if I walk by some new mining settlement and hear the guard mention vampires the first time, I'm gonna be on guard so the residents don't get slaughtered. 71.171.112.74 05:16, 21 July 2013 (GMT)
- Oops I forgot to answer part of that. Obviously I haven't tried it during the day because I assumed vampires don't attack during the day. I also haven't tried with cities or towns because I thought this was something that only happened at settlements or farms or mines. In either case, what I have experiened first hand happens too often to be mere coincidence, but since I'm playing on PS3 I can't exactly enable console and check the game data, so maybe you're right, idk, but the last time I ignored a guard commenting about vampires attacking people in the streets when I first discovered Stonehills, everyone got killed while I wasn't watching. 71.171.112.74 05:31, 21 July 2013 (GMT)

re-amendments[edit]
I've re-amended description as the changes made it unclear that the items are on the table. Also changed where it had been changed to shelf, back to shelves as it isn't a single shelf, except where stated it is a set of shelves. Biffa (talk) 22:03, 19 October 2013 (GMT)
Farming Crimson Nirnroot?[edit]
Does Avrusa actually grow Crimson Nirnroot on her farm after completion of 'A Return To Your Roots'? I've managed to get the Nirnroot patches to respawn five different times, and every time they only manage to grow the ordinary variety. I've also noticed that this page is pretty much the only page that mentions it, no other wiki page or video has ever confirmed that this is actually something that happens. — Unsigned comment by 68.102.106.195 (talk) at 05:23 on 31 August 2016
- They were supposed to but don't unless you have USKP. Updating both pages now. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 11:16, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
No Key even if married?[edit]
I just married Avrusa and did not recieve a key after agreeing to live at her residence Sarethi Farm. Tried to pickpocket one from her or her sister, but they didnt have keys. Being caught picking the lock gives a bounty, but I picked it while hidden and then was not considered "trespassing" in the spouse's home. I saw no listing for a key on UESP page for Skyrim: Keys. I would suggest edits on Avrusa Sarethi's page to warn players that there is no key, so marrying her will not yield one, and I dont believe a Wax Key perk copy would appear either.
