Ragnvald is an ancient Nordic ruin in the Druadach Mountains, in the province of Skyrim. It was once a temple settlement controlled by the Dragon Cult and led by the Dragon Priest, Otar the Mad until he was overthrown by two heroes of legend, Saerek and Torsten.[1]

Ragnvald was once an active city during the Merethic Era led by King Otar.[1] Otar was also a Dragon Priest and even possessed a malachite mask,[2] suggesting he held a high status in the Dragon Cult.[3] At some point, Otar went mad and Ragnvald's people became oppressed by his power. The two warriors, Saerek and Torsten decided to rise and defeat Otar, but instead of killing him, he was imprisoned in his tomb deep in Ragnvald's temple for eternity. The only keys to his tomb were jeweled skulls interred with the heroes.[1] In time, Ragnvald was abandoned and Draugr roamed its decrepit halls.[4]

In 2E 582, the Icereach Coven of witches constructed a ritual site on Ragnvald's courtyard and activated a harrowstorm, using relics supplied by the Gray Host. The ritual was later disrupted by several warriors in the area.[5] In 4E 201, an adventurer entered Ragnvald and discovered Otar's tomb. From there, they searched the ancient city to find Saerek and Torsten's tombs in the crypts and the canalworks. With the skulls, they activated Otar's tomb and defeated the Dragon Priest lich, taking his mask with them.[6]
