"These tomes require my strict attention. Some of them have a tendency to … misbehave."
—Amaleera[1]

Amaleera was a powerful Altmer mage,[1] and a member of the Conclave of the Eleven Forces,[2] the ruling council of the Psijic Order.[3] She was also the librarian,[1] and keeper of the Temporal Tomes in Amaleera's Psijic library,[4] although the primary responsibility for overseeing the protection and maintenance of the Psijic libraries as a whole rested with Loremaster Celarus at that time.[5]

History[edit]

Little is known about Amaleera's past before she joined the Order.[1] During the Summerset crisis related to the Court of Bedlam in 2E 582, Amaleera, as a member of the Conclave of the Eleven Forces, participated in a complex scrying ritual led by the Ritemaster Iachesis.[3] After uncovering the Sea Sload's involvement, the Ritemaster requested that the council determine a new investigative focus, expecting that Amaleera and Iradal would be able to explore new avenues for the investigation.[2] Following the death of Ritemaster Iachesis, the remaining members of the Conclave, including Amaleera, honored Iachesis's dying wish by agreeing to appoint Valsirenn as the interim Ritemaster.[6][2] This decision was made until the Conclave could come to a consensus on a more permanent and suitable candidate.[3][6]

As a member of the Conclave she held an important role within the Order and was responsible for maintaining the Temporal Tomes,[4] also known as the Elusive Manuscripts.[7]

The Psijic Order possessed the ability to peer into fate lines beyond the borders of Tamriel. Among the secrets they uncovered were tomes that spoke of alternative timelines and realities, where pivotal events unfolded in other ways. These tomes were stored in Amaleera's Psijic library on Artaeum. Circa 2E 582, five of those tomes escaped the library and moved to various places associated with their contents.[4]

The Coral Aerie Temporal Tome authored by Varallion, spoke of a reality where Lord Bacaro Volorus of the Ascendant Order had succeeded, and as such it ventured to the island of the Coral Aerie, where some of his supporters had established a base.[8]

The Garden of Sacred Numbers Temporal Tome spoke of threats endangering Nirn from the Void. While sacred numbers were invoked to stop these threats, they eventually succeeded in that reality. The tome could be located in the Garden of Sacred Numbers on Summerset Isle, a place dedicated to the contemplation of numerology.[9]

The The Karnwasten Temporal Tome, by Raavarion, spoke of a reality where the Sea Sloads took over Summerset. It was found in the northern parts of the isle, in the grotto of Karnwasten, one of the bases of the Sea Sload invaders.[10]

The Traitor's Vault Temporal Tome, by Rullinalion, spoke of a reality where the infamous necromancer Mannimarco took over the world. The tome relocated to the Traitor's Vault, a place on Artaeum where many of his experiments were contained.[11]

The Vault of Moawita Temporal Tome described a reality where the Scouring of the Moors occurred in Glenumbra and contained a description of the Scarf of the Obscene, an artifact of the Daedric Prince Peryite. The tome moved to the Vault of Moawita, where the Psijics stored many dangerous artifacts.[12] All five books were eventually rediscovered and returned to the Psijic's custody.[4]
