Welcome[edit]

Hello Effigy! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! —Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:52, 27 December 2012 (GMT)

Inappropriate Language[edit]

Please refrain from putting such language on this wiki: it's vulgar and pointless. That's why I reverted your edit to your userpage. You should consider adding more useful information to the wiki, instead. See here for more constructive editing help. --Vulpa 03:37, 14 February 2013 (GMT)

I see nothing wrong here, it might upset people of a sensitive nature, but there are far worse examples in actual articles. As joke it was perfectly reasonable, although Hermaeus might be stepping on the toes of Dibella going down this route. Being so heavy handed when there are nude images and sexually explicit books on-site can be discouraging. Effigy may choose to leave the comment off, but the only policy we have is an unofficial one of discouraging extreme language, and only removing it if it is directed abusively at someone. As this was neither "extreme" or directed at someone you can only seek to discourage it unofficially. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 04:08, 14 February 2013 (GMT)
In the past, references like this have generally been allowed to remain, as long as they're not explicit. Yes, hentai is a specific type of adult image, but in this instance, it's not showing or stating anything explicit, nor is it implying anything specific. The content in and of itself is less notable than, say, that of The Lusty Argonian Maid, so I don't have any problems with it being on a user's page. Robin Hood  (talk) 04:57, 14 February 2013 (GMT)
I can see there is no point in disputing this-- my reaction was somewhat hurried, and I hope Effigy accepts my apology; I won't remove (her? his? :P) language again if it is re-added. However, while not personally offended or anything silly like that (yeah, this IS the Internet), I don't feel like there is much of a place here for what I consider to be vulgarity or pointless explicit/inappropriate/whatever language unless it is in-game or some harmless exclamation used so often as, say, WTF. I don't know, perhaps it is just that I know a few 8-year olds that use this site, but I don't find things like Effigy's joke necessary additions to it. --Vulpa 21:20, 14 February 2013 (GMT)
