Elder Scrolls Online Announces Legacy of the Bretons Story Arc — January 27, 2022
The initial details of the sixth Elder Scrolls Online story arc have been revealed. Following up on the Gates of Oblivion, the latest story arc has promised a more down to earth scale. The Legacy of the Bretons story arc will cover secret peace talks to end the Alliance War in The Systres. At the same time, a mysterious faction of rogue knights known as the Ascendant Order threaten the peace and stability, while working towards a mysterious goal. Leading this conspiracy is the enigmatic "Ascendant Lord" and "Ascendant Magus", and unraveling their machinations will be the central focus of this year's upcoming chapter, High Isle.
Like previous years, the Legacy of the Bretons story arc will have four primary releases, with one in each quarter of the year:
- Ascending Tide DLC (March 14 for Mac/PC and Stadia, March 29 for Xbox and PlayStation)
- High Isle Chapter (June 6 for PC/Mac and Stadia, June 21 for Xbox and PlayStation)
- Unannounced Q3 DLC dungeon pack (date TBA)
- Unannounced Q4 DLC story zone (date TBA)
Ascending Tide will add two new dungeons to the game, the Coral Aerie in Summerset and Shipwright's Regret in Rivenspire. Fan-favorite allies will also return with Ascending Tide, with Jakarn and Captain Kaleen returning in the Coral Aerie and Caska and Za'ji in Shipwright's Regret. The Coral Aerie will cover an attempt to rescue Jakarn, and will be the official first encounter against the Ascendant Order. Over at Shipwright's Regret you will help Za'ji upgrade The Perfect Pounce at an abandoned shipyard for the All-Flags Navy where the undead have risen.
The first dungeon pack will be followed by the High Isle chapter, which will take you to the eponymous High Isle, as well as Amenos. The chapter will bring a heavy focus on political intrigue as you delve into the Breton underworld. Beyond the main storyline, High Isle will feature numerous new features and additions:
- New Companions, Ember and Isobel.
- A new deck-building collectible card game, Tales of Tribute.
- A new Trial, Dreadsail Reef.
- New Fissure World Event.
- More locations to explore.
Among a host of minor changes, the ESO team stated that High Isle will include Spanish text translations as part of its Update 34, with a promise to support the language in upcoming updates.
