Encountered during When Love Crosses Rivers

Poem for Drolora
A love poem from a Hlaalu's forbidden lover.

Poem for Drolora

Oh you, who live sheltered by the Warrior,

who live all your lives in his shadow.

Have you seen your reflection in the river of glass?

And did you know that my heart was there,

dreaming, beating beneath the waves?

Oh, you are more beautiful than jewels,

lovelier than river pearls, silver or gold.

Your eyes are like rubies, aflame

my humble heart has never seen such treasure.

Oh, what happens when love crosses rivers?

I fear the answer will not be nice.

Does it wither or fade? Does it emerge, triumphant?

Or is it stopped in its tracks by the fearsome Warrior?

Oh, have you ever faced alone such a wicked guardian?

And have you crossed the river, well armed and armoured,

And have dreadful events forced you to drop your weapons?

Please forgive me, beloved Drolora.
