Emmurbalpitu, in its hidden crater

Emmurbalpitu is a shrine to the Daedra Prince Azura, located in Aanthirin.

The ruins are concealed within a deep crater, between Mundrethi Plantation and Oran Plantation. There is a way in through the underwater grotto of Malarnubi - simply look for the abandoned rowboat in the river next to the road that runs between the two plantations - the entrance to the grotto (and by extension, the ruins) is beneath that boat. Alternatively, it is possible to levitate from that spot up to the crater's edge, to the west of the boat.

The crater is lined with plentiful Slough Fern, and there are three doorways set around the edge.

Broken Halls

The Broken Halls are empty, except for the non-hostile spirits of Azura's worshippers.

Aisle of Dawn

Accessible only between the hours of 5-8am.

More non-hostile spirits can be found here. An entrance to the Crepuscular Shrine is at the far end of the passage, but the key needed to open it is in the Aisle of Dusk, in a broken urn in the southwestern corner of the room with a fire in the middle.

Accessible only between the hours of 5-8pm.

This location is peopled by more spirits of worshippers. The heretical book, Crimes of the Tribunal, can be found here, along with a Scroll of the Mindfeeder. In the flooded room to the south, the Emmurbalpitu Dawn Key can be found on a fallen block next to a skeleton. This permits entrance to the Crepuscular Shrine from the Aisle of Dawn.

Crepuscular Shrine

The Winged Twilight, Aizuhr-Suur waits in this shrine. Speaking to it will begin the quest What Happened in Emmurbalpitu. The shrine itself is littered with the smoking remains of War Ordinators, and pieces of the valuable Indoril Armor set can be obtained here. Behind the statue of Azura, there is a glass tanto and grand soul gem. In front of her, there are the customary offerings of gems. The pearl among these offerings is cursed, and will summon a Dremora Lord on being taken.

The corpse in the northeastern corner contains the note needed to proceed with the What Happened in Emmurbalpitu quest.
