Online:Treasure Chests
Treasure Chests are large locked containers that can be found across Tamriel. Treasure chests spawn in fixed locations in the world. Each time they spawn, they have a random difficulty of lock—ranging from Simple to Master. They typically contain a variety of valuable items and gold. Most chests have the same generic look, as seen in the image on the right. Treasure chests found in Group Dungeons often look different.
Unlocking[edit]
Unlocking a chest requires at least one lockpick, which themselves can be acquired from the world or bought from General Goods Merchants. Interacting with a chest will open up a lockpicking mini-game where the pins must be aligned in order to open the lock. Alternatively, you can try to force the lock open. The chances of forcing a lock depends on its difficulty, but this chance can be improved by adding points to the Locksmith skill in the Legerdemain skill tree.
Successfully unlocking a chest grants you a small amount of leveled experience, as well as Legerdemain experience. If all the loot is taken, the chest disappears for a short time and eventually respawns.
Loot[edit]
Treasure Chests can contain the following items:
- Leveled amount of gold
- Treasure maps
- Chapters from selected crafting motif books associated with the zone where the chest was found (e.g. Sapiarch motifs in Summerset).
- Armor or weapon Overland Set pieces associated with the zone where the chest was found.
- Antiquity Leads for:

Notes[edit]
- You must loot the entire contents of a chest in order to get credit for the above achievements. Picking out the stuff you want and leaving behind the junk will not count.
- Looting the contents (again, all them) of a treasure chest will earn you 10/ 1 Rapport with Mirri Elendis is she is your active companion. (The 10 points can occur once per hour, but you get 1 point for each chest after that, with no cooldown.)
- Some chests are already unlocked when you find them - notably those found by following Treasure Maps or found at the end of incursion type events such as Dark Anchors or in boss/side puzzle stages in the Infinite Archive. These can contain the same types of items, as well as some exclusive to their specific types. They don't give experience or Legerdemain skill, but they do count as Treasure Chests for the purposes of achievements, and for Mirri's Rapport.
