Quest-Related Events[edit]

As you approach her, you may her Jylta call out to you.

"Hold up there, young blood."
"Another day, another infernal harrowstorm."

If this is the first time you have spoken to her, she will have a unique greeting and warning:

"About time I found someone whose spine wasn't bent with age or cowardice. There's trouble on the horizon."
What's the trouble?
"Dark clouds are gathering over the western kingdom. Harrowstorms, they're called. The conjurings of Reachmen witchcraft.
Unfortunately, there are more reports of these unholy storms than folk willing to brave them."
How can I help?
"What the Swords of Solitude needs is a group of volunteers with the guts to wade into a few of these harrowstorms and stop the accursed witch-work that is causing these fel winds to blow."
I'll gather some forces and deal with these harrowstoms [sic].

After the first time you complete the quest, she will greet you with one of the following when there is a new job available:

"Look sharp, young blood. The holds are in peril."
"There you are, young blood. I have need of you."
"There's trouble on the horizon, young blood. Brace yourself for a hard day of fighting."

Once you have agreed to help, she will say one of the following if you return to her before stopping the harrowstorms.

"Stuhn's grief, young blood, I've told you all I needed, haven't I? If I was in my prime, I'd be halfway to Mor Khazgur by now."
"I envy your vigor. The last time I swung my axe in battle, there was a Longhouse Emperor on the Ruby Throne."
"I expect clear skies on the hour."

After you have helped stop at least three Harrowstorm rituals you can return to Swordthane Jylta:

"The skies seem clearer to me, though my eyes aren't what they used to be. Report."
"All's quiet in Solitude. What about the rest of the holds?"
"My knees tend to ache when a storm's brewing, but they're quiet for now. Have you put those harrowstorms to rest?"
I disrupted the harrowstorms, as you asked.
"Of course you did, young blood. I never had a doubt.
You've earned your reward and some rest. I expect to see you bright eyed and bushy tailed when these coven witches rear their ugly heads again."

When there is no work for the day, she will tell you one of the following:

"The scouts say all's quiet, for now. I'm sure there's something that needs doing, but I've got nothing left for you to do this day."
"I like you, young blood, but you're becoming a bother. I'll holler when we've spotted anymore harrowstorms on the horizon."
"Now that the harrowstorms are clear, maybe we'll get to enjoy a nice, brisk blizzard."

Dialogue[edit]

After the completion of Daughter of the Wolf, you can ask her a number of questions once you have completed your daily task:

Who are you?
"Hmph. Forgotten already? I was the youngest swordthane ever named, when High King Svartr dubbed me. No one could stand against me in all of Haafingar.
I suppose being jailed all those years has thinned my reputation along with my bones."
Why were you in jail?
"When that bastard Svargrim took the throne, he said I looked more like a spinster than a swordthane. So I proved him otherwise.
I shouldn't have knocked out so many teeth, I suppose. He might have taken my point more in stride."
So he let you keep your title?
"Hmph, he didn't let me anything. I may not be in the crown's good graces, but folk still call me swordthane because I earned that right.
Truth is, I prefer the militia to the king's guard."
Why are there still so many harrowstorms occurring?
"Ah, young blood, the battle for Solitude might be over, but the war's just begun. You've given us a fighting chance, but there's still an army of vampires, werewolves, and witchmen out there seeking our destruction. Now we must beat them back."
How should I go about dispersing the harrowstorms?
"My experience with Reachmen extends as far as lopping their heads off on the battlefield, but I've heard rumors of witches planting some kind of pikes around where they conjure these rituals. I'd start by smashing them."
