Rescue the drunken bards
A bunch of dumb, drunken bards have gotten themselves stuck in a giant camp near Ivarstead. They tried to charm the giants with music. Now I need to run over there and save them.

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Talk to Runehild.
  2. Find the giant camp.
  3. Talk to Logod.
  4. Find Skald Jakaral.
  5. Return to Thane Vofknir.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

During Thane Vofknir's speech, an injured Nord woman runs up screaming for help. Talk to her and you will learn that multiple drunken bards have gotten trapped in a nearby giant camp. As the new champion of Geirmund's Hall, she requests your aid.

"They're stranded. Please. Don't let them die because of a few too many pints."
What's wrong?
"Jakaral, Logod, and I went to the giant camp near Ivarstead. We had a few meads, and well, we thought we could charm the beasts with our music. Like in the tales?
It didn't go well."
And you thought it would?
"Look, there's a lot of blame to go around. I heard the thane. You're the new champion of the hall.
Are you going to help those bards, or not?"
All right, all right.

Head south out of town across the bridge to find Logod. He tells you that only Jakaral is still trapped, and asks you to rescue him.

"Oh thank Kyne! Can you see to Jakaral?
He lured the giants away from us so we could escape."
You sure he's the only one in there?
"Yes, yes! Just him. Please, hurry!"

Head west towards Honeystrand Hill, through the giant camp. Skald Jakaral will be on the far edge of the camp, looking hurt. When you talk to him, he tells you that he can follow you, despite his injuries, and promises to sing a very lovely song for you the entire way.

"Ahh. I saw you around at Geirmund's. Here to save me. How nice!
How nice."
That's right. Can you walk?
"Not terribly fast. But I can make it. Just lead the way.
I'll be right behind you, bolstering our spirits with song!"
Oh, that's really not necessary!
"No need to thank me. We really must get moving though, eh?"
Follow me, then.

Head northeast, back towards Geirmund's Hall. Once you arrive at the Hall's southern bridge, Jakaral departs.

"I'll see you back at camp!"

Cross the bridge once more to speak with Thane Vofknir. He promises celebrations at the Hall in thanks for your work.

"You've returned! And the bards, stupid though they may be, are alive!"
Just glad I could help, Thane.
"We'll toast your name tonight, my new champion. I hope you'll stay and enjoy the mead. And the feasting. And the dancing!
Oh, oh, oh! And don't forget—the singing!"

  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
