Mornabeth

Mornabeth is an Orc and a member of the Blushing Brush Dibellan sect. She has recently entered the Vale of Revelry, and High Priest Caroril will have concerns about her newest acolyte.

Prior to this, she was a Reveler of Sanguine, before Caroril helped her leave that life behind. While travelling with the sect, she learnt of the tenets of Dibella and became an ardent worshiper.

Quest-Related Events[edit]

After deciding to help High Priest Caroril retrieve her acolytes, you can enter the Vale to go search for them. Within the village area, you will find Mornabeth preaching to Ambyralion and Galviso Belaal, who feel she is bringing down the mood:

Mornabeth: "All love, all beauty, is a gift from Dibella. Adore her and be adored!"
Galviso Belaal: "One more word about Dibella and I'll chew my own ears off!"

You can talk with Mornabeth to see how she is and explain High Priest Caroril concerns:

"Oh! Hello! Are you interested in hearing about the glories of Dibella? I won't take up much of your time. But knowing about her love would be useful in this place."
You must be one of High Priest Caroril's acolytes. She sent me to get you out of this party.
"She sent you? Is she worried? Oh no, she probably thought I fell back into old habits."
Old habits?
"Caroril didn't tell you? I was a reveler before she found me. I rotted away at these affairs, looking for love and joy. I was lost for so long. Now that I found myself again ….
Caroril knows my fears."
If you're so worried, why would you enter the revelers' party?
"I worry for the people like me. The ones trying to fill an emptiness with wine and frivolity. People who long to get lost in the moment but don't know how to find their way back.
No one here wants my help, though. Time to return to Caroril."

After she decides to leave, Ambyralion will pipe up:

Mornabeth: "I'll make my way out. Let me just gather my things."
Ambyralion: "Finally! Her voice nearly soured my drink."

Before you move on, you can speak with Mornabeth again about her experiences as a Reveler:

"Don't worry about me, I know the way. Caroril may not trust my loyalties, but my love for Dibella is strong."
Why did you join the Revelers?
"I was searching for love and acceptance. These parties always felt so fun and distracting. Everyone smiled at me. It was enough, for a while.
But every time we moved to a new location, my joy drained to nothing."
What was being a Reveler like?
"Exhilarating and nauseating. I helped light torches and set up tables before the musicians called us to dance.
The whole experience feels like a dream that I can't remember. Pieces of it are so clear and then I lose the thread of my own story."
Do you miss it?
"Not for one moment. My days may not be dark and star-filled, but they're bright and so warm. I know myself in Dibella's love. I don't lose time or my memories in her worship."

Searching the Vale of Revelry, you can find a drunken Rakamin and a happily dancing Hraewin. With the latter, she will vent her frustration about High Priest Caroril and her beliefs. This comes to a head after you locate all the acolytes, as you when you leave the Vale, you will find Hraewin and Caroril arguing while Mornabeth and Rakamin watch.

Talking to Mornabeth before High Priest Caroril:

"I don't think Dibella has any helpful words for this situation. Telling Hraewin to see the warmth in Caroril's eyes would just start another fight!"

You can then talk with High Priest Caroril to complete the quest, afterwards the argument will continue:

Hraewin: "I spit on Dibella and your brushes. I will dance at that party until I'm ready to leave!"
<Hraewin stalks off back towards the tent.>
Rakamin: "This one does not feel well."
<Rakamin sways and falls backwards.>
High Priest Caroril: "There's beauty in all things. Especially the sight of a foul person retreating."
<Mornabeth takes out a quill and paper, and jots some notes down.>
Mornabeth: "Dibella's teachings are varied and plentiful."

You can speak with Mornabeth and ask her some questions about the relationships of the sect members:

"Hraewin's gone? She left so quickly! I'm not sure if she fled Caroril, the Blushing Brush, or Dibella. Maybe all three?
I know she hated Caroril at the end, but Dibella? How can anyone hate love?"
Did Hraewin and Caroril ever get along?
"I thought so. Hraewin was a part of the Blushing Brush before I got here.
Back then, Caroril painted bouquets and Hraewin danced with scarves. We had music and song. Our campfires never dimmed."
So what happened?
"Small annoyances turned to arguments. Rakamin and I watched their grievances deepen and the music we loved turn sour.
Caroril stopped seeing the beauty in passion and Hraewin couldn't feel love in curated moments."
Where do you find beauty?
"I loved Hraewin's passion and how easy it was to be swept up by her emotions. But I'm like Caroril. I've lived excess and chased its heights. But all I want now is to find grace and quiet in Dibella's warmth.
I hope Hraewin stays happy."
You're very loyal to Caroril.
"She helped me when I was at my lowest. After I left the Revelers with no direction and an aching emptiness in my being."
Is that when you became an acolyte?
"Oh, Sweet Lady no. I was too used to staring at darkness to see Dibella's light.
Caroril let me travel with the Blushing Brush before joining. Dibella teaches us to open our hearts to love, but I couldn't do that before I learned to love myself."

Dialogue[edit]

Mornabeth in Sunport

After you have completed the related quest, you can find Mornabeth in Sunport, in the square outside the Sleepy Sloth where she will be painting:

"Ah! Most adored! We were just figuring out the best way to introduce ourselves to the good people of Sunport.
Times are difficult and we want to help bring beauty back into their lives. This city has so many glorious parts to it."
How do you plan to bring beauty to Sunport?
"I want to convince the nobility to sanction public art projects. There are so many glorious structures that could easily serve as canvases for murals to Dibella's love."
What about the others?
"Rakamin wants to speak with the citizens, but Caroril wants to host a gala. It's a good idea, especially since Sunport has some familiarity with Dibella and parties.
But dancing … it's hard to entice others when your balance is poor."
What if the people of Sunport don't want you to decorate their city?
"We can't force anyone into Dibella's love, but back in Anvil everyone was interested in the Lady. This must be what Caroril warned us about. The hardships of starting over in a new place.
I'll just have to try harder then!"
