Format

Hey all, I made an edit to this page that changes the format of the text. Until now, this version of chapter eight has been a tiny bit different from the in-game version in that each quotation begins with a colon and a new line, whereas in the game's text, there is a comma, and the quote follows along the same line for all but one passage. Looking at the page history, it would appear that this format has always been present in the Wiki version of UESP, and it somehow slipped in back in 2005~2006.

The original archive of UESP from 2002, back when it was hosted on m0user, shows a different format to what we see today, though not all chapters had been posted on here yet. Here is sermon eight from an archive of TIL in 2003, also showing an old formatting lost to time, namely indentation. It looks like the original forum posts may have had this as a part of their style (but perhaps it wasn't viewable with the game's constraints).

Though this doesn't really explain why, at some point during the content move in 2005, the text was indeed changed, replicating the colon, line break, and indentation from a single passage in this chapter, to each other quotation.

The text is formatted differently from game to game. I'm checking and changing the formatting to what was present in Morrowind. There do seem to be some differences between the morrowind text and what is presented here, for unknown reasons.... Jeancey (talk) 19:42, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

Hey thanks for cleaning up the mess I'm leaving in my wake! You beat me to coming back around and fixing links. Still new at this. Yes, I am also attempting to restore the text to match Morrowind's. I dumped the chapters in html from Morrowind.esp and am now diffing each chapter to find changes against what's already on the wiki.
