Haras was a Bosmer who led the Valenwood sect of the Hounds of Hircine, a group of legendary hunters who were devoted to the Daedric Prince Hircine.[1][2] The Valenwood Hounds were distinguished among the order and recognized as the greatest hunters in all of Tamriel.[1] Haras was considered the greatest contributor to this status, a legend known to every Hound across all Tamriel, Haras was considered the best tracker to ever live.[1][3][4][5] Haras personally trained the Valenwood Hounds how to hunt and his methods were the foundation for each training of every Valenwood Hound thereafter.[1]
Eventually Haras set his sights on the ultimate challenge, the hunt of the fabled Pale Senche-Tiger.[1][2] Haras was unmatched in his devotion to Hircine, and implored the Prince of the Hunt to let him hunt his greatest beast.[1][2] Hircine granted him this wish, while also making him immune to aging and tiring.[2] Haras' first attempt at capturing the beast ended in near death for himself, and also the death of one of his fellow Hounds of Hircine.[2]
Haras would spend several centuries, beyond the natural lifespan of a Bosmer, endlessly hunting and tracking and the Pale Senche, becoming completely subsumed in the goal.[2][1] Over time Haras became an increasingly legendary figure among the Hounds, some questioned if he was even real or not, while other hunters claimed to have seen him on occasion, still hunting the elusive beast.[1]
In 2E 582 a hero known as The Vestige found themselves in Greenshade a region of Valenwood where several Hounds of Hircine, and by chance, Haras were pursuing prey. The Vestige helped several Hounds track and neutralize their prey before finally encountering Haras himself.[6][7][8]
Haras was laid out in a state of exhaustion and wounds that could not be seen by the naked eye when the Vestige encountered them, in no condition to hunt any further, Haras confided what information he could of the Pale Senches location.[2] The Vestige managed to track and slay the beast and claim its ivory hide.[9] This caused an aspect of Hircine to appear to the Vestige directly who was pleased with the outcome. Hircine bade the Vestige return to Haras and let him know he may finally rest.[10] Haras was delighted to see the hide of the great beast and died with peace.[2]
