Name of story arc[edit]

Since the new releases will be called Recollection of Ithelia doesn't that mean the story arc has officially been rebranded by ZeniMax Online Studios and the name of this article should be renamed from Shadow Over Morrowind to Recollection of Ithelia and at least acknowledge both names by starting the opening paragraph with "Recollection of Ithelia, formerly Shadow Over Morrowind is the seventh main story arc of Elder Scrolls Online" after the new content has been released and not just have it say Recollection of Ithelia at the very end of the opener? --KevinM (talk) 08:14, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

I would suggest using neither if at all possible. Online:Daedric War Storyline was originally a semi-unofficial name taken from dev commentary to describe Morrowind to Summerset. Is there any term at all that would encapsulate both Necrom and Gold Road? —Legoless (talk) 10:31, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
Also, can I ask where you're seeing "Recollection of Ithelia"? I can't see it being used anywhere online, but if that's the preferred name for the storyline in ZOS's current marketing materials then I would support the move (if a third alternative can't be thought of). —Legoless (talk) 10:38, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
"Recollection of Ithelia" can be seen when interacting with the West Weald portal on Balfiera (PTS screenshot). —Maitsukas (talk) 13:00, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
What do the other portals say? We don't seem to have those lines documented on Online:The Gates of Adamant or Online:Norianwe. —Legoless (talk) 14:13, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
They are as follows:
  • <Travel to Bleakrock Isle and start the "Ebonheart Pact" storyline.>
  • <Travel to Stros M'kai and start the "Daggerfall Covenant" storyline.>
  • <Travel to Khenarthi's Roost and start the "Aldmeri Dominion" storyline.>
  • <Travel to Vvardenfell and start the "Divine Conundrum" storyline.>
  • <Travel to Summerset Isle and start "The Queen's Decree" storyline.>
  • <Travel to Northern Elsweyr and start the "Season of the Dragon" storyline.>
  • <Travel to Western Skyrim and start the "Dark Heart of Skyrim" storyline.>
  • <Travel to Blackwood and start the "Gates of Oblivion" storyline.>
  • <Travel to High Isle and start the "Legacy of the Bretons" storyline.>
  • <Travel to the Telvanni Peninsula and start the "Shadow Over Morrowind" storyline.>
For the Vvardenfell and Summerset portals, the storyline names were taken from the first Zone Story Quests. —Maitsukas (talk) 15:29, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
Perhaps what is a good idea is to keep Shadow over Morrowind and Recollection of Ithelia separate pages then? Granted they are supposed be one story, but if they don't have official name we shouldn't keep them as one (Shadow over Morrowind being 2023 and Recollection of Ithelia being 2024. Alternatively, we could come up with a generic name (let's say "Online:2023-2024 Storyline" for it with stuff and names explained on the page. Tyrvarion (talk) 15:35, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
Why do you say we cannot keep them as one story without an official name? It very clearly is a single storyline, both in terms of its plot and based on dev commentary going back to 2023's Chapter reveal. I don't see any benefit to splitting what is a single storyline into multiple pages. The reason we even have pages like this is because of the multiple releases involved in the Daedric War Storyline; it's important for the wiki to have a place to present quest order chronologically, disregarding the mishmash of free/DLC/Chapter distinctions. ZOS has spoiled us by ensuring that every subsequent "main quest" was marketed as a neatly-packaged year-long adventure, with an official storyline title that served our needs. The confusion here is a return to business as usual, and we need to come up with some way of presenting the Necrom–Gold Road questlines together. It's simply unfortunate that ZOS did not have the foresight to come up with a name that they could carry forward into the current year. —Legoless (talk) 16:16, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
I agree with Legoless that we have to keep them as the same page. It’s evident that Zenimax made a lotta plan changes late into development hence why Shadow Over Morrowind isn’t that accurate. It should probably be changed to Recollection of Ithelia, which was not the initial name as “Ithelia” is a major spoiler. We know 2023 releases are Shadow Over Morrowind under the broader storyline, the real question is whether we call all of 2024 releases the “Gold Road” questline like the roadmap suggests or just put it all under Recollection of Ithelia. I reccomend Secrets of Apocrypha, the original (and ultimately unused) title for the 2023 year-long story from before they changed the content delivery model to multi-year. --Enodoc (talk) 16:41, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
The same thought occurred to me. I support Secrets of Apocrypha for this page, to distinguish it from the two zone stories. —Legoless (talk) 17:03, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
I agree that this article should be renamed to Secrets of Apocrypha --KevinM (talk) 20:28, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
Yeah I’m on board with renaming the page to Secrets of Apocrypha, and deeming 2023 releases part of Shadow Over Morrowind and 2024 releases part of Recollection of Ithelia. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 05:03, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
I'm happy with "Secrets of Apocrypha" for name of the overlying arc.--Talyyn (talk) 07:35, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
Done. —Legoless (talk) 09:44, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
