Lore:Paragons
The Paragons, also known as the Paragon Stones are a collection of five fabled large, ornate oval gemstones set in ancient, intricately wrought silver crafted by the Snow Elves.[1][2]:995 Each of the Paragons was fashioned from a distinct gemstone: amethyst,[3] diamond,[4] emerald,[5] ruby,[6] and sapphire.[7]
The Paragons were used within the Chantry of Auri-El in the Forgotten Vale, where they served to activate portals on the Paragon Platform, granting access to different parts of the temple complex.[8]
History[edit]
Little is known about the precise origins of the Paragons, though they were originally utilized by the Snow Elves within the Chantry of Auri-El to navigate the wayshrine portal network.[8] By 2E 582, the Ruby Paragon had reportedly circulated in various locations across Tamriel as contraband.[1] At some unknown point in history, the Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Paragons may have passed through the hands of traders and found their way into an unidentified marketplace.[9] By 4E 201, all known Paragons had resurfaced in the Forgotten Vale, guarded by Frost Giants who had stolen them. They may have been discovered by the Last Dragonborn during their travels.[10]
