Goth?[edit]

There's a line at the end of the article that claims Cutter is the game's "only Goth" because of her gloomy appearance and obsession with cutting things to make them bleed.

First off, nearly all the residents of Dementia could be described as having a "gloomy" appearance, given the generally dark tones of clothing favored by the demented, and their overly pale faces. Even the brighter fashions found in Mania have the same Victorian/Byronic sensibility about them that the Dementia outfits do, and therefore are in the same family of clothing designs that spawned the look of contemporary gothic fashion. Singling Cutter out on the basis of appearance ignores the fact that many of the game's other NPCs would look just as at home in a modern gothic nightclub as she does.

Secondly, stating she has an obsession with blood and using sharp implements to cut things as a reason to consider her the game's "only goth" is a gross over-simplification of what the Gothic Subculture is about. Hirrus Clutumnus' sense of alienation from the world, Bisha's childlike naivete in his interactions with Ushnar gro-Shadborgob, Earil's quest to preserve beauty against the ravages of time, Yngvar Doom-Sayer's finding liberation in fatalism, and Sontaire's blurring of pain and pleasure in her sex life are all at least as gothic in sensibility, if not more so, than an obsession with blood and cuts. Even if we focus on shallow stereotypes, Jayred Ice-Veins' fixation with bones and their association with death plays up to another gothic cliche.

In short, if you're going to assign the "Goth" stereotype label due to appearance and the ideas and personality expressed, nearly the whole damn expansion is Goth.

Besides, if you want to pin a subculture stereotype on Cutter for having a thing for bleeding cuts caused by sharp blades, that belongs more to the "Emo" stereotype than it ever did to the goth. (Not that the "Emo" stereotype is any more accurate of a portrayal of the actual Emo subculture than the "Goth" stereotype is an a accurate portrayal of the actual Goth Subculture, but you don't see anyone selling T-Shirts that read "I wish my lawn were Goth so it would cut itself.") 65.14.2.104 23:24, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Spectacular... and I don't mean any real offense, but rather than writing winded diatribes about why one line that a single individual out of thousands wrote, that you found offensive, without actually just saying "I found it offensive and out-of-place", why don't you just change the line or delete it? --AlbinoMudcrab 00:20, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
Why? Perhaps it was an assumption that whoever added the line in the first place, did so out of good faith and not out of an intent to offend, and actually belived it was a correct piece of information. So as a courtesy before removing their addition, I'd open it up to discussion on the talk page first. After all, while I may know a little bit about the subject, I'm in no way an authority on it, and other people might have differing views on the subject. I'll go ahead and make the edit though; if any further discussion here determines that the line should have stayed, it can always be reverted. 65.14.2.104 00:36, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
I'm sure their intent wasn't to offend, it's actually a shame that it did, it's a shame so many things offend so many people these days. When the freedom to dress or act in a socially abstract manner, such as "goth" or "emo", unchallenged, is of higher consideration than the freedom to speak unchallenged. C’est la vie. And I might be completely wrong and talking out of my crabtocks, if I am I apologize in advance, but I think Dumag gro-Bonk or some other New Sheoth citizen describes/refers to Cutter as a "Goth". --AlbinoMudcrab 00:58, 6 April 2007 (EDT)

He never says that, what gro-Bonk says is something like "She's not a good smith beacuse she's too busy cutting herself"--68.192.188.142 18:37, 4 June 2007 (EDT)

Related quest?[edit]

Why is "Lady of Paranoia" listed as a related quest? It has nothing to do with Cutter — Unsigned comment by Nixlplix (talkcontribs)

Actually she is, just a bit. Most inhabitants of Crucible are related to The Lady of Paranoia because they can give the player the information he/she seeks. In Cutter's case, she will tell you of Ma'zaddha's and Nelrene's meetings at night. --Timenn < talk > 08:26, 13 March 2008 (EDT)

Daggers?[edit]

I was messing around in my game and discovered she was carrying over six thousand iron daggers. Is this always the case or is it some sort of glitch? — Unsigned comment by 16 September 2008 (talkcontribs)

It's a known issue. The members of the Duelists all have this problem. –RpehTCE 01:19, 16 September 2008 (EDT)

the thousand weapons[edit]

I don't think this is a glitch, I think it was so that in case they broke their weapon during a match, they would not go to their fists and be outmatched, especially during the big match. It's just a thought. Dunehelm (talk) 03:00, 14 February 2014 (GMT)
